The purpose of the Merkur Live project is to promote data-driven technological development in the drinking water sector through advanced analysis and practical use of water treatment data. It creates value by testing, demonstrating, and disseminating future data-driven solutions to global water treatment challenges related to water quality, sustainability, and economic efficiency. The project develops concrete measurement equipment and software products that contribute to these solutions and support increased export potential.

The project is based on existing data from 80 Danish waterworks stored in the “Merkur” database. An open, web-based platform will be developed and maintained beyond the project’s duration. International collaboration is encouraged through the collection of data from European waterworks.

The project supports continuous learning through an active community of practice in the water sector, where the potential of digitalization is actively used to inform decisions. The overall goal is to position Denmark as a global leader in evidence-based drinking water treatment.
